Jewel of Africa Soccer Academy Still Going strong

08 May 2024

For a considerable time, Jewel of Africa has supported the Jewel of Africa Soccer Academy (JOASA), founded in 2010, formerly known as Mapili Youth Soccer Academy of Chibolya township, an underprivileged and drug-prone community in Lusaka.

The team has made steady progress over the years and is currently competing in the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Division Six Under-20 League (East).  This competition often requires the team to travel to far-flung areas of the city, exposing them to scouts from larger teams and providing crucial experience for their footballing careers. In addition to keeping youth away from the streets and preventing drug and alcohol abuse, the JOA Soccer Academy serves as a platform for nurturing talent and producing high-quality players who can later join bigger clubs, both locally and internationally.

Success Stories:

Mr. Mwape, one of the coaches of the team, expressed delight in announcing that one of the academy players—a striker—was recently selected for the under-17 Zambia national team provisional squad. The player is on loan at Chibolya Academy which competes in the 2nd Division of the FAZ League tier structure, he is also the leading goal scorer in the same league.

Another success story involves a player who moved from the Jewel of Africa Soccer Academy on loan to join Kafue Celtic Football Club, competing in the 1st Division of the FAZ League, the football club is renowned for producing notable professional players like Patson Daka and Enock Mwepu.

Our commitment to empowering talented youth in underprivileged communities remains steadfast, we have demonstrated our resilience with continuous support, even in challenging times such as the Covid-19 pandemic.
