We also support the #6 UN Sustainable Development Goals - Water sanitation - through our the renovation of Kanyama Community School.

LOCAL COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT

We have established trusted relationships with the local communities where we have operations. Our partnership programs include increasing the number of women we hire and train in areas of specialization. All jewelry pieces are handmade in our workshop in Lusaka, Zambia.

Jewel of Africa has partnered with UNHCR to recruit and train selected refugees in the cuts of lapidary and jewelry manufacture. To give back to the Zambian community, we also work in modernizing and up-scaling local community schools.
WE INVEST IN SUSTAINABLE LOCAL PROJECTS

Since 2016 a percentage of the sales generated in the USA have been donated to several worthy causes.Because we believe that education plays a vital role in shaping the future thereby eradicating poverty in the country, we are proud to invest in the Zambian youth for a better future. Our vision is to embrace the true meaning of CSR by supporting the needy and vulnerable schools in our communities. Jewel of Africa's commitment to promote high quality education has led to the support of improving teaching and learning standards in Garden Open Community School in Lusaka.

Not only do we help raise the standards of education, we also contribute to society by supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals:

SDG Goal 2- No hunger

SDG Goal 4- Quality education

SDG Goal 6- Clean water and sanitation

On this premise, we continue to address the major challenges of water and sanitation through our new project of renovating Kanyama Community School; the first phase is drilling a borehole so that the school has clean running water round the clock.

MAPILI YOUTH SOCCER ACADEMY - MYSAMAPILI

Youth Soccer Academy (MYSA) was founded in 2010 to use sports and social mobilization to contribute towards the campaign for child delinquency in Zambia. Substance abuse is a public health problem in Chibolya township of Lusaka. MYSA utilizes football to promote the rights and interests of orphans and vulnerable children in Chibolya to shield children between the ages of 8 to 18 from destructive vices such as substance abuse, crime, early marriages, gender based violence and gang related activities.

MYSA is a registered affiliate of the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Youth League. Since 2012, Jewel Of Africa has supported MYSA and its Team Manager, Mr Laban Mwape's admirable efforts to protect orphans and vulnerable children by paying FAZ registration fees, providing team jerseys, socks, boots & footballs and transport expenses to and from games, as well as food & drinks.
